The 30-minute Verbal Ability section of the computer-based GRE includes 6 Sentence Completion test items (out of 30 test items altogether). Sentence Completions are interspersed with Antonyms, Analogies, and Reading Comprehension sets.

From this page you can practice with 10 GRE-style Sentence Completions. Before attempting the practice questions here, be sure you've read the following:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRACTICE QUESTIONS

  1. Review the directions for GRE Sentence Completions (at the bottom of this page).

  2. Go to the first practice question ("Begin Practice"). Select an answer choice by clicking on a button, then click on "Answer/Analysis" (or go directly to the next question). Use your browser's BACK button to review your responses. This is not a timed test.

  3. To gauge your performance, tally up your correct responses. After completing all four Verbal Ability practice sets, check your grand total against the Verbal Ability score-conversion table.
