30 Days to the GMAT CAT
HERE YOU'LL FIND a list of corrections to known errors in the 2nd Edition of 30 Days to the GMAT CAT.
[Report an error in the book]
  • Page 44. Analysis of Question 1. The correct response is (A). The first sequence (-15 through 33) contains seven integers that the second sequence (-10 through 31) does not also contain: -15, -14, -13, -12, -11, 32, and 33. The sum of these seven integers is zero (0). Thus the total difference between the two sequences identified in the question is also zero (0).

  • Page 55. "Fractions" (right column). The first sentence in this section should read as follows: "A fraction is a number of the form x/y (where y does not equal zero)."

  • Page 55. "Fractions" (right column). 7 5/6 = 47/6 [the addition sign (+) should be an equality sign (=) instead]

  • Page 57. "Dividing Decimal Numbers" (right column). In the first equation system, the denominator of the first fraction should be .3 (not 3).

  • Page 61. "Roots and Ordering" (right column). The second observation (bullet list) should begin as follows: "If 0 < n < 1, then 0 < n < ^n (square root of n)..."

  • Page 63. Step 4 in determining standard deviation (top of left column). The calculation results in 18 1/3 (not 18 - 1/3).

  • Page 75. "Analysis of Sample Question" (left column). The analysis of Choice (D) refers twice to choice (B) but should refer to choice (C) instead.

  • Page 91. Example question (left column). In choice (A), replace "the drug" with "it" (as in the underlined sentence).

  • Page 95. Question 2. In the underlined portion of the sentence, replace "resistance" with "distance" (as in choice A).

  • Page 140. First bullet item (left column). In the fourth listed equation, the denominator in the right-hand fraction should be ab instead of ab2.

  • Page 154. Example 16-11 (left column). The solution to the problem is 21 (60% of 35 is 21, not 19).

  • Page 163. Question 5 (left column). In the fifth line of this explanation, replace "workplace" with "college."

  • Page 163. Question 8 (right column). Solve for x in statement 1 as follows:

      -4x - 7 > -14
      -4x > -7
      -x > - 7/4
      x < 7/4

The analysis at the top of page 164 is essentially the same, and the correct response remains (C).

  • Page 280. Conversion Table B. A corrected raw score of 2 corresponds to a total scaled score of 210 (not 310).
