LSAT GMAT Answers — Book Updates

The book's 3rd edition was published in January, 2003. The following updates are for the book's 2nd edition:
  1. How Your Two Essays are Scored (page 6): Robo-Reader is now referred to E-Rater. The way in which E-Rater enters into the scoring process has changed slightly. Just as before, E-Rater scores each essay. Now, however, E-Rater's score for an essay is averaged together with the human reader's score for that essay, unless E-Rater's score diverges from the human reader's score by a certain margin, in which case a second human reader will read and grade the essay. The final score for that essay is the average of the two human readers' grades. (The same process applies independently to both essays, and your final AWA score is the average of the final score for each of your two essays.)

  2. Analysis-of-Issue Questions (Part 2): Since publication of the book's 2nd edition, the test-makers have added 35 new Issue topics to its official list. (The new topics appear at the end of the topic list.) Also, the issue for essay 91 in Part 2 has been omitted from the list; essays 92-115 in Part 2 correspond to Issue topics 91-114 in the current list.

  3. Analysis-of-Argument Questions (Part 3): Since publication of the book's 2nd edition, the test-makers have added 32 new Arguments to its official list. (The new arguments appear at the end of the list.) Please note the following changes as well:

    • The Argument for essay 54 in Part 3 has been omitted from the list; essays 55-97 in Part 3 correspond to Arguments 54-96 in the current list.

    • In the Argument for essay 62 in Part 3, the name Powerflex is changed to Muscle Monthly.

    • The Argument for essay 71 in Part 3 has been omitted from the list; essays 72-89 in Part 3 correspond to Arguments 70-87 in the current list.

    • The Argument for essay 90 in Part 3 has been omitted from the list; essays 91-97 in Part 3 correspond to Arguments 88-94 in the current list.

    • The Arguments for essays 98 and 99 in Part 3 have been omitted from the list; essays 100-102 in Part 3 correspond to Arguments 95-97 in the current list.

    • The Argument for essay 103 in Part 3 has been omitted from the list; essays 104-115 in Part 3 correspond to Arguments 98-109 in the current list.
