The original use of the word “dojo”, is found in Buddhism and literally translates as, “the place” (jo), where one follows and seeks, “the way” (do). In this case, the “dojo” is the place where one follows the way of Karate. The dojo may be any area in which Karate is practiced.
Courtesy and respect should be observed in the “dojo” at all times. Shoes are removed before entering the training area. Finger and toe nails should be kept trimmed, to avoid accidents, and all jewelry should be taken off before practicing.
