Aqua Gardens

Joy Burnworth We’d walk to the end of Crystal street
Through the park to our own little sea
A gravel pit the town turned into a lake
Shipped in the sand Aqua gardens was my place

It gave me hope that every day could be summer
Not a care in the world just her and I together
Wasn’t thinking about getting any older
Wanted this space and time to go on forever

Aqua gardens with the music on the public address
Sound of hot rods smell of hot dogs and I’d get undressed
Aqua gardens a place where I could feel safe
With the summer and the sun burning on my face

We’d stay all day she’d turn blacker than tan
I was burnt my suit full of sand
Smile on her face lasted the whole walk home
God how I wished it was her and I alone

chorus

It gave me hope that every day could be summer
Not a care in the world just her and I together
Wasn’t thinking about getting any older
Wanted this space and time to go on forever
