My father was a private assigned to the Marine Detachment aboard the Augusta, which was commanded by Lieutenant Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller, already legendary and the quintessential Marine. Here my father is sixth from the right in the second row from the front, and Lt. Puller is in the center.
