This drawing appeared in Ripley's Believe it or Not, August 1969. The four of us in the photo below stayed in the Rhätia Hotel directly to the left of the church. The square building, left of the church, might be the Rhätia.
Davos Platz, looking in a northerly (?) direction. The church mentioned above is in the center of the picture.
From left to right: Paul Long, pilot; Charles Cassidy, bombardier; Marvin Shaw, navigator; Harold Carlman, co-pilot. Photo taken in Davos Platz. Notice no vehicles in the street. Photo probably taken in August, or early September, 1944.
The Rhätia Hotel on the left and the church with the twisted spire, winter scene.
Lake mentioned in the text as beyond the far side of Davos Dorfli, which is in the background. Davos Platz beyond Dorfli. The lake is called Davoser See.
Summer scene, Rhätia Hotel on the left, church with the twisted spire on the right. Notice the horse drawn wagon near the Rhätia. Farmers were cutting grass in the city and taking it home to be used as hay.
Church with the twisted spire, shown elsewhere. Photo taken from our hotel room window.
Making hay on the outskirts of Davos.
Hay curing by hanging on posts, Davos.
