Neuchatel and Chaumont

Chaumont Hotel

The Grand Hotel at Chaumont above Neuchatel where we spent our quarantine period of three weeks. Only Paul Long, Harold Carlman, Marvin Shaw, and Charles Cassidy were sent to Chaumont. I believe the remainder of the crew were sent to Adelboden.

Neuchatel

Neuchatel, Canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland. The castle was built by the Dukes of Neuchatel in the 15th century and the church of Notre Dame, now Protestant, was constructed in the twelfth century. Lake Neuchatel in the background.

Funicula Station

Funicula, either leaving or entering funicula station in Chaumont.

Panorama of Neuchatel

Panorama view of Neuchatel area. Lake Neuchatel in foreground, and city of Neuchatel. Note twin spires of Notre Dame church. Alps in the background.

Funicula Switch

Funicula cars meeting on the switch at Chaumont. Note the oval bypass; one car is ascending and the other is descending.

Neuchatel is in the grape producing country. Grapes are grown on the lower slopes of Chaumont, not visible in these photos. Each grape vine is staked on a lath like support. I assume that there are wines made here also.
