Teacher's Question of the Week

Q: Are there any suggestions to get one moving in relation to reflecting upon one's teaching philosophy, goals and orientation?

A. The Teaching Perspectives Inventory is based upon Pratt's Five Teaching Perspectives, which are explained on the site. It is intended to reveal your purposes for teaching and may augment your philosophy of teaching. I found it to be a bit surprising.

I was compelled to ask myself such questions as do I agree with the findings? If true, what would I want to change, emphasize or de-emphasize? While a combination seems most realistic, what proportionality would I consciously choose to give to these different perspectives?

Whether you agree or disagree with the results, it definitely gives you something to think about. (DSPS is not endorsing a particular product by linking to this site.)
