Student's Question of the Week

Maya Angelou, 1928
Q: What kinds of teaching methods help you learn best?
A: The Institute of Learning at the University of Kansas created a series of brochures for students in college that will be featured here in the Question of the Week series. One of them offers you some choices that typify how teachers prefer to instruct, including evaluation, homework, in class activities of students, and style.
Why does this help you? It gives you a chance to think of what seems to work best for you, and it may be used in choosing teachers who best match your orientation. For example, if a teacher maintains your attention by moving around the class a lot, that might be a criterion you use to guide your choices when selecting classes through the registration process.
This link takes you to their Instructional Preferences worksheet that you can print and complete in writing.
This link allows you to access all of the student brochures in either html (for easier reading online) or pdf (thepdf version is printable and can be folded to turn into a brochure). To read about the whole project, click here for an overview.
