Student's Question of the Week
Q. How can I improve my memory?
A. School started again today after a nice, relaxing winter break. One of the areas many of my students said they would like to work in is memory.
The San Francisco Exploratorium has a fun online experiment for memory, if you'd like to try it. Don't be put off by the fact that it says it is for young teenagers! Click here to go to "Memory Solitare".
First you can test yourself using trial and error; next, you learn a strategy, and retest your memory, using the strategy. Voila! Experience shows that using strategies when learning is quite rewarding and effective.

One of the books I recommend is Dr. William Browning's Memory Power for Exams because it presents concisely in the first half how to make mnemonics, aids for memory. In the second half, several examples are provided in many subject areas so those who learn well from examples have much from which to choose.
