Student Question of the Week

Q: What single thing can I do that will improve my ability to learn in all my classes?

trees reflecting in a pondA. Concentration is my answer, but each person will need to answer this for himself or herself through practice. One of the best things I've ever done to improve my own learning skills is to set aside a certain amount of time each day to think and reflect on whatever I choose. I find that this practice increases my ability to concentrate in every environment. It helps to identify issues that need to be handled, it provides time to come up with some new ideas, and it seems to develop an ability to identify main ideas, themes or concepts.

This connects with a webpage that discusses many ways of gaining concentration and calmness in everyday life but also when taking tests, which is an area of concern often mentioned by students.
