This Wind
This wind
will knock me down
It will know I’m weak
It will surge its hand across my cheek
And to the ground my back will press
The rocks will pile on my chest
They’ll push me till I’m in the earth
With arms and legs of little worth
Sticking from the dirt like trees
That bend and sway against the breeze
My knees will cave my elbows too
And as they flail I’ll think of who
It was that put me in this state
None other than my helpless fate
The fate of one who can't reach out
And grab the gates that make me doubt
I’ll ever even make it through
But wind has challenge against two
It can still pick me off the ground
And torture me with blowing sounds
But cannot push me through the sand
Not with these bars clutched in my hands
