Q: What factors might a teacher keep in mind about the physical environment of the classroom that would make it conducive to learning?
A: The team at the University of Kansas Center for Research in Learning have designed an easy checklist that you may wish to use in evaluating the learning environment. Click here to read "Assessment of the Classroom Environment".
Ask students with different performance profiles to complete the checklist. If anyone checks "no", the next step is to evaluate what, if any, modifications can be made. Some suggestions are made about what or whose behavior might be subject to change. The goal is to enhance the learning experience for everyone involved.
