![]() | Here is one of the most poisonous tarantulas in Central America - I'm not sure what its name is but I think our guide called it a White Knee Tarantula. This guy lived in a little hole about 20 feet away from the dining room of our lodge in Chan Chich, Belize. We caught him as he was leaving his hole to find some dinner.
We also came across another white knee as we were hiking along a flooded trail the day after a huge storm (actually, it was more like wading through the jungle). The poor tarantula was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time - he was stranded in the middle of the trail, balanced on a small exposed root, surrounded by rushing water. We didn't think he'd be in a good mood, so we didn't offer to help... |
