Follow the leaves to find a bunch of leaf cutter ants busily hauling leaf bits back to their nest. When the leaves are returned to the nest, the ants process them and eventually they turn into every leaf cutter ant's favorite dish - fungus. We saw several leaf cutter nests - they are huge whitish mounds that can go several feet underground. It's really cool to see the ants work - they look like little bitty conveyor belts quickly sweeping the leaves down the trail. But always watch out where you're stepping!
