We had the need to sort huge lists of words as part on an indexing process for our online databases (we index millions of records and 10s of gigabytes of data). The word lists being sorted were in the order of 10 to 20 million lines. The standard operating system sorts on NT could not handle the size of the files. On UNIX the process was extremely slow. Postman Sort was introduced into the process and the performance gain was amazing. For one, NT could be used for sorting. On the UNIX side we say performance gains of up to 10 times.We have worked with Bob for a number of years and have always been impressed with his knowledge, attention to detail, and more importantly the quality of his work. This is a great tool and yes it does work as advertised!
