This letter is to inform you of a rather delicate and most embarrassing matter involving two of the executives of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). It is a matter regarding the systematic racism directed against African-Americans which is being produced, distributed, broadcast and disseminated, with impunity and extreme prejudice, by Westinghouse Electric Company via its nationally syndicated radio program, The Howard Stern Show.

As you know, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Negro College Fund is Michael H. Jordan. This is the same Michael H. Jordan who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Westinghouse. I find it equally incredulous that the President of UNCF, Mr. William Gray, also serves on the Board of Directors of Westinghouse.

I have reported Mr. Stern's racism, and Westinghouse's responsibility for the creation and dissemination of it, at my Internet site located at: http://www.west.net/~westcott/SternHomePage.html

The site details and authenticates Mr. Stern's broadcast of the Klu Klux Klan hate messages and his 'comedic' presentations of such things as "Nigger Hating Hats", "Guess My Color" and his racist remarks about many African-Americans, including Bill Cosby, Michael Jordan (the athlete) and 'Magic' Johnson.

I have enclosed a sampling of Mr. Stern racist comments and I believe that most of the financial supporters of the UNCF would find it hard to believe that UNCF's Mssr.s Jordan and Gray are active participants in broadcasting this unquestionably racist material to more than 18,000,000, primarily Caucasian young men daily.

Although I am not an attorney, I believe that, just as the issue of Texaco's racism was legally actionable, by routinely broadcasting racist material, Westinghouse has, as did Texaco, created a hostile work environment for all of its African-American employees. Particularly since Mr. Stern's presentations are neither episodic or periodic but are a matter of routine modus operandi. I believe you would agree that Texaco's "black jelly beans" comments pale in comparison to Westinghouse's production and broadcast of Mr. Stern's portrayal of Bill Cosby, "When I get really horny, I go visit a white broad." "Which one of you white broads in the audience wants a high hard one?"

Suffice it to say that, until such time as the duopoly of Mr. Jordan's and Mr. Gray's involvement in both Westinghouse's racist broadcasts and the United Negro College Fund are clearly separated, I will not be sending any further contributions to UNCF and I will advise others to act accordingly. Lest anyone at the UNCF thinks otherwise, this is not a matter of the First Amendment. It is a matter of First Class Embarrassment.

Two caucasian men and one African-American man come into Stern's radio studio.

Howard Stern, Robin Quivers and two members of Stern's
production staff are blindfolded and ask questions
to figure out which one is black.

"What kind of cigarettes do you smoke?"

"Can you swim?"

"When do welfare checks come?"

A news report about a western music performer
led to Mr. Stern's 'satirical' discussion of western hats
and the people that wear them.

Stern's feeling is that anyone who wears a western hat,
as Stern says, "hates niggers".

Eventually, "Nigger Hating Hats" became a "Howard Stern Song Parody".

It is played repeatedly on Stern's program and available on CD!

This letter is to inform you of the systematic racism directed against African-Americans on New York radio station WXRK-FM during The Howard Stern Show (aired Monday through Friday, 3:00 AM until 11:00 AM).

Factually, KLSX-FM, and numerous other Stern broadcasters throughout the nation, have paid more than $1.7 million in federal indecency fines for their continual and repeated violation of federal indecency statutes, specifically, 18 USC, paragraph 1464, which deals with broadcasting indecent material to children. I am proud to say that the $1.7 million was as a result of my actions against Mr. Stern's broadcasters.

In addition to the federal indecency violations, I assisted the African-American Business Association in a multi-million dollar settlement with Mr. Stern's broadcasters as a result of his racist broadcasts.

Mr. Stern and his program is produced, distributed and broadcast by Westinghouse Electric Company and it's Chairman, Michael H. Jordan. I urge the N.A.A.C.P. to speak out against Westinghouse's racist broadcasts and I trust I can count the N.A.A.C.P. in the growing number of organizations who are boycotting Mr. Stern's broadcasters, his advertisers and Westinghouse.

I have enclosed a sampling of Mr. Stern racist comments and ask the assistance of your membership in a letter writing campaign to Westinghouse CEO, Michael Jordan.

Although I am not an attorney, I have followed civil rights cases through the courts and I believe that, just as Texaco's actions were legally actionable, I believe Westinghouse may, likewise, be culpable.

I have much detailed information regarding Mr. Stern's and Westinghouse's racist programming. I believe that there may be several areas of litigation regarding what may be, Westinghouse legally actionable racist policies and I am willing to help your organization in any way possible to bring legal action against these broadcasters.
