Question of the Week

Question: What can I do to do my best in the coming school year?

Answer: By using self-chosen approaches to studying in each class, you will increase your learning abilities and earn the results you envision.

The following is a web treasure hunt for study skill sites. By visiting the sites, identify what will work for you, given your choice of classes and major. I'll begin by listing some I have heard of and been given by some friends, and you can send yours in so they can be added to the list.

Here are a few for your web traveling...

1. Virginia Tech, Cook Counseling Center, has put together an excellent site of learning strategies, study skills, and self-help advice for students.

2. Bucks County Community College's Concepts of Learning and Effective Study Skills

3. Don't miss SBCC's Student Hub for many possibilities to investigate.

4. Rio Salado's "Steps to Writing a Research Paper" (Thanks to Mark Ferrer.)

5. Here is a list of study skills to help you in the areas of reading, writing, math, study skills and critical thinking: Gyrus Learning Skills Index.
